Body Contouring Clinic

Body contouring surgery encompasses a number of different body sculpting techniques used by Dr Deepak Kalia to reshape almost any area of the body. Through body sculpting surgery, patients can effectively eliminate excess fat and skin that are unresponsive to diet and exercise.

Body Sculpting Techniques  --- Cosmetic surgeons employ a variety of body sculpting techniques to help their patients achieve lean, toned figures.

Liposuction

Liposuction is the most popular method of body contouring surgery because it allows the surgeon to re-sculpt specific areas of the body. Using only a few tiny incisions, Dr Deepak Kalia can target stubborn fat deposits and permanently remove fat cells from the area. There are many different methods of liposuction available and you and Dr Kalia will discuss which technique is right for you.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

The "tummy tuck," or abdominoplasty, is a unique body sculpting surgery that combines removal of excess skin and fat from the midsection with the surgical tightening of the abdominal muscles. Abdominoplasty is typically offered as an individual procedure, but may also be performed during full body lift surgery.

Body Lift Procedures
Body lifts allow surgeons to remove excess skin and fat from one or many areas of the body. You can re-sculpt your entire body with a total body lift or lower body lift, or choose one or more less extensive body contouring techniques such as an arm lift, thigh lift, and butt lift.

Body Implant Procedures
Body implants are used in body sculpting techniques to add shape and volume to areas that are disproportionate to the rest of the body. Although exercise is always the best way to attain a lean, toned figure, some body contouring candidates find that they cannot improve the shape of certain body parts through strength training alone. If you have a stubborn area that will not respond to exercise, bicep, calf, pectoral, or butt implants can contribute to a more defined phys

Liposuction (Lipoplasty)

A cosmetic surgery procedure to remove unwanted fat

WHAT IT DOES: Used to remove fat from hard-to-sculpt areas of the abdomen, chin, legs and arms.

BEST CANDIDATES: Anyone who has a problem with impacted fat, deposited in areas of the body and face.

LENGTH OF SURGERY: 1 to 4 hours

RECOVERY: Bruising and swelling generally exists longer than other procedures due to the lack of large venous circulation. Some swelling and bruising can last for several weeks, and this procedure requires that the patient wear a binding garment/bandage, to compress the surgical area and aid in healing.

BACK TO WORK: Two to four days

Liposuction can help sculpt the body and give better definition to the facial region, specifically in the neck and chin. It can also be used to reduce gynecomastia conditions, or male breasts caused by fatty deposits. Many areas can often be treated while the patient is under anesthesia. Liposuction IS NOT considered a method to treat obese patients, or for those who seek to lose weight.

Dr. Deepak Kalia will, in a preoperative session, mark those areas of the body and face, which need attention. Once he’s marked the fatty deposit sites, he will make a few small incisions, usually no larger than 1/8th inch (3mm) and will inject tumescent fluid. This fluid is a solution made up of saline, epinephrine and other medications to reduce bleeding and enabling easier fatty tissue removal. Into the same opening, he will insert a hollow tube-like instrument, called a cannula (attached to a vacuum pump), and make a back and fourth motion under the dermis—aspirating the fat and tumescent fluid from the surgical sites.

Dr. Deepak Kalia will then wrap the surgery areas with elastic compression dressings/bandages to help reduce postoperative swelling and bruising. For a number of days after surgery, you’ll feel sore and the areas will feel tight. Even though you’ll be able to return to work within a few days, you’ll be required to wear this post surgical garment for several weeks after the liposuction procedure. Discomfort from pain will be controlled with medications he will prescribe. You’ll see the final result from your surgery approximately eight weeks later, when most of the swelling and bruising is gone.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

A common plastic surgery procedure that will tighten abdomen muscles and remove excess fat and skin.

WHAT IT DOES: Best suited to help patients who can’t lose excess fat in the lower abdominal region.

BEST CANDIDATES: Men and women with excess localized fat deposits on the body.

LENGTH: 1 to 4 hours

RECOVERY: Bruising and swelling for 2 to 6 weeks. Requires wearing a girdle or liposuction garment for 3 to 6 weeks.

BACK TO WORK: Two to four days

For individuals with a problem with excess abdominal fat or skin, or those who have undergone bariatric surgery, Abdominoplasty can help with sculpting the mid-body region. Also known as a “tummy tuck,” this surgical procedure involves tightening of the abdominal muscles and excising excess tissue.

Dr. Deepak Kalia typically will create an entry incision just below the pubic area. He will then tighten the abdominal wall muscles and remove excess fat and skin. There will be swelling in the area and you may experience pain. These are normal after an Abdominoplasty. Any pain or discomfort will be controlled with pain medication prescribed by Dr. Deepak Kalia. Usually, you can return to normal activities with two to three days, but it may take up to eight weeks for all swelling and bruising to disappear. During the recovery process, you’ll have to wear a compression garment to help with healing.
